You Don't Need a Diet

Many of us have health and fitness goals we would like to achieve.

Lose 20 lbs, start eating better, get stronger, look good in a swimsuit, etc.

What if I told you that you don't need a strenuous diet to get there, no matter what your goal may be.

Well... you don't and I am going to tell you why.

Do not get me wrong, I have done my fair share of dieting and diets can be great tools for short-term goals.

However, many diets are not sustainable.

Too many rules + No fun = Temporary Results

Even if you get the results you were after there is a good chance those results will not last because you can't make the diet last.

I am in the business of long-term goals with lasting results. If I am going to put in work, I want to see some long lasting benefits.

The best way to achieve fitness goals with long lasting results is through a positive lifestyle change.

A lifestyle change can be any alteration you make to your way of living that you can sustain with discipline indefinitely. And in our case we are looking for positive health benefits in return.

This should not be something you dread or something that causes you continual stress.

The lifestyle changes I am talking about may require some discipline at first, but over time should become a natural part of everyday life.

Personally, I think any lifestyle change should meet two very important criteria:

1. Does it make sense for you?

A lifestyle change should be something that is attainable. If you start a workout program that requires you to be in the gym 5 days a week for an hour, but you work and only have time for 45 minutes 3 days a week then that's a bad deal. That plan does not make sense for you, so you won't stick to it. Don't waste your time.

2. Can you start today?

These changes do not have to be big things. It could be as small as drinking a bottle of water a day.

Let's be honest. If we don't have everything we need in front of us to get started, the odds of us actually making a change is slim to none.

We don't like change because change is uncomfortable. Start with something small and just do it!

There is a good chance you are headed toward some lasting health benefits if you can answer "yes" to those two questions. The next step is putting change into action.

Stay tuned for Part 2. We'll talk more about taking action and some specific lifestyle changes everyone can make.
